Glad I got one

This tools is much better than the hand held versions. Much easier to control and easy to use. It has a tension control so it is easy to make the wire as tight as you would like. Almost like a scroll saw for foam. great for more complicated cuts - melts the foam like butter.

I give the Super Hotwire Foam Cutter an A-

This little, but powerful tool is a breeze to use and put away when finished using it. The ability to remove the hotwire to a hand-held foam cutting tool is super convenient, as well as the ability to stow the wire-arm underneath the main body of the hotwire cutter table. The construction of the table, arm, and even the heavy duty cardboard of the packaging is excellent. I also appreciate that the power supply is detachable and fairly standard, unlike some of Marvy Uchida's competitor's offerings.

My ONLY wish is that there was a fence for the Super Hotwire Foam Cutter. I would pay an additional $9.95 for this much-needed accessory. A perfect fence would allow the user to adjust the depth and the angle of the cut, much like a table saw.

Finally, I'd gladly pay double what I did for the Super Hotwire Foam Cutter if there were a Super Hotwire Foam Cutter Pro that included an adjustable fence. I purchased mine at Hobby Lobby for $35 + tax.

Thank you for the opportunity to review the Super Hotwire Foam Cutter here on the corporate website.

My second one in one week just went CAPUT.

I am making a smallish diorama with nice, firm styrofoam and I found the cuts to be very precise, and with a makeshift fence, as straight as an arrow. That being said, my second one failed after four days of very mild use. (The first on I returned to Hobby Lobby as it did not work out of the box). Bummmmer.

Clean cuts.... with a problem

This foam cutter is easy to set up and use. The cuts are "clean." But if you are planning to make straight cuts, you need to make your own fence. Depending on what you are doing, this might be a "critical fail."

Not precise and wire melts the base

I had high hopes and this does cut foam, just don't expect precision. I've used it for about a year and enough to need to replace the wire 3 times. If you use the wires included, expect melting the base as the "play" in the wire is at least an inch and the hole in the base does not accommodate. The adjustment for the wire in the base didn't help at all. I actually had to wrap the wire around the hook at the top to keep it tight. The overall base is difficult to add any type of guide to so one could use the measuring tool engraved in the base. I would like to rip larger pieces of foam down for smaller projects and this is not the tool for that task. If you're just wanting to look into wire foam cutters, this is an inexpensive option. If you want decent, accurate cuts, look somewhere else.
